BayTown Apartments

Baytown is a city within Harris County and partially in Chambers County in the Gulf Coast region of the U.S. state of Texas. Located within the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown metropolitan area, it lies along both State Highway 146 and Interstate 10. As of 2006, Baytown had an estimated population of 78,311.It is the fourth-largest city within the metropolitan area. Settlements were established beginning in 1822. In 1947 three cities merged together to form Baytown. In 1916 the Humble Oil & Refining Company constructed the first offshore drilling operation in the state of Texas and it was the second one built in the nation. The Baytown Refinery became one of the biggest Exxon refineries in the world. Other refineries were also built in the city. In 1970 United States Steel established the Texas Works in the area. Years later the plant closed.
